Backyard Adventures: Lake Elsinore Diamond Stadium (Minor League Baseball)

I love baseball, but sometimes having to drive an hour or two to get to the nearest baseball diamond is not what I’m trying to do after a long week. Approximately 6 miles away from our SoCal home is the Lake Elsinore Diamond Stadium: Home of the Lake Elsinore Storm, a San Diego Padres Class A Advanced Affiliate. I wanted to check another thing off my bucket list and, truthfully, did not know why I had not done it sooner.

While the gameplay is slower-paced and the stadium more intimate, it doesn’t detract from the overall game experience. It’s one of the cheapest ways to enjoy baseball around these parts.  For as little as $ 11, you can catch some of the action on the diamond. Compare that to the average ticket price of $ 50 at a major league ballpark, and it's a steal! We chose to sit on the right-field side, behind the visitors’ dugout, and paid $33 for two tickets, which included a $3 convenience fee. Two Storm Dogs and two bottles of soda were $19.50. Add $5 for parking, and our total is? $57.50. Purchasing our tickets was more expensive than getting a Family Pack. Next time, I’ll have to invite a couple of guests! Planning saves money, so be sure to check out promotions and mini-plan packs regularly.

Our team, the Stockton Ports, the Class A Advanced Affiliate for the Oakland Athletics, fell to the Storm 8-2. Still, we had a blast! If baseball is your jam, you should look up your affiliate Minor League Baseball team. There’s no better way to cheer for your favorite team’s rising stars on a dime. Take advantage of these hot summer nights! You might take a foul ball souvenir with you.
